Friday the 13th

13 May

It is a spooky day today and I am very su-paw-sitious so I have decided to spend all day in hiding but I thought it was my duty now that I am older and wiser to pass on some words of warning…Henrietta thinks I am behaving like a puppy as she was born on Friday the 13th so for her its a lucky day- but I am not taking any chances! Here are my top tips…

1. Do not walk under any ladders..or over any ladders OR play with any ladders just in case!

2. Make sure you don’t break any mirrors whilst admiring yourself…

4. Avoid solitary magpies at all costs and do not let them chase you!

5. Do not open any umbrellas indoors…

                                                                                                                                                                    6. Last but not least…if you see one of these evil creatures  black felines crossing your path, do not chase them, just run!

This is Lily reporting from under the bed- good luck to all my canine and feline  friends!

*Office News*

Katy and Anita have both returned from Thailand!

Katy made a new friend in Thailand called Dumbo. She is now determined for us to make an Organic and Holistic food for elephants but having researched their eating habits, I don’t think it would be possible to fit 270 KG ( their daily food intake) of bark, fruit and leaves in to one of our tins!

We are now stocking our food at Daylesford Farm and they really know how to put up a display! Glyn was down at the farm yesterday on his Birthday ( what dedication!!) and took some lovely photos for us.  We plan on surprising him with a cake when he next visits the office.

Henrietta and Lily have been hard at work in the kitchen making Heston Blumenthal look lazy and have concocted some delicious new recipes..including a new treat  which is not bone shaped, not oval shaped, but flower shaped!

Every week in the office we wonder what lovely gift we will receive from a happy customer and we are constantly being surprised! We have been sent some wonderful artwork, a CD, some shampoo for Lily and yesterday we received a brilliant poem- check it out on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/lilyskitchen

CRUFTS ( Canines Ruling Us For Their Sanity)

17 Mar

Last weekend I was left to guard the Lily’s Kitchen Headquarters as the whole office migrated to Birmingham for our favourite show of the year…CRUFTS!

As a consolation prize for not being allowed to attend this year( I know I’m not pedigree enough), Henrietta took me to see a wonderful stripper @hairofthedogLDN when she got back. I have to say, they were amazing. I no longer look like a brown wooly sheep  with several hair partings as my coat got so long! They’ve given me a wonderful new look for Spring/Summer 2011. And it didn’t hurt a bit- not even nail clipping. We’ll definitely be going back…I’ve already told the children and all BTs- this is the place for you!

My good friend Benson was also not invited to Crufts because according to his owner, he is an evil Beagle- capable of mass destruction..Does he look evil in this photo? I rest my case.

Here are a few photos we wanted to share with you from CRUFTS.

Henrietta and Raph standing proudly at our stand.

Some lovely fine canine specimens that also came to pay us a visit starting with the one and only Yogi bear.

Followed by Blue

A fellow Border Terrorist called Pie

Alphonso

and last but not least Percy

While most of the team were working hard …others ( Katy) were not.Even the second youngest member of the team needed to use a beef tendon as a walking stick day two!

She did feel better after a quick coffee break though..and a chat with my very best pal @marleyterrier and was back behind the stand in no time!

Slightly older more experienced members of the team ( Raph) looked full of energy on day four!

Where as Amy and Katharine had a very chilled Sunday posing for photos.

We did have a fantastic time and want to give a special shout out to all that came to visit the stand including my very best buddy @marleyterrier, @haslemerepets, @sir_reilley, @BCTGB, @hollyandlil, @darlingdog, @SpanielRescue and everyone else!

*Other exciting things happening in the office*

We now have a FANTASTIC video featuring me (obviously) and some other people trying to steal the limelight…

Henrietta is at the global pet fair in Orlando – and everyone there talks about being a pet parent not pet owner!

Katie( aka Katharine) has broken Lent having survived a grand total of 2 days and is now feasting on kittens..they literally had her name on it so you can’t blame the girl!

Thanks for reading

Love Lily!

Canine Cooking Class

3 Mar

This Saturday was very exciting for the Lily’s Kitchen team as we em”barked” upon our first ever cooking class! When I say we, I mean Henrietta, Katy and Holly Mash (our holistic vet).Henrietta broke the news to me on Saturday morning that I was not allowed to come to my own cooking class and that Katy would be donning my chef’s whites! There is some kind of paw against dogs being allowed in commercial kitchens… I can’t think why! Katy will never look as us canines do in chef’s whites…

As you can see our class participants were very attentive and took down lots of notes and some top secret tips and advice.

And this is the Lamb, Lentil and Vegetable Stew Katy cooked… Henrietta brought it back home for me to chomp on- to ease her guilty conscience.

Katy and Holly posing…not cooking!

Holly in her element- talking about herbs.

We want to thank all our lovely customers for being part of a canine cooking revolution.

EXCITING NEWS FLASH

We are all going to be at Crufts in exactly one week today ( stand 1-48 from the 10th-13th March) so come say HI!! Unfortunately I am not allowed to attend this year because I was too intimidating to all the St Bernards and Newfoundlands and the poodles got jealous of my hair style….

Lily’s first blog

3 Feb

It has taken me many months of searching but I finally found a “paw friendly” keyboard called the keyboarder Terrier! This means I can finally chat to you about the goings on both inside and outside our office in Hampstead.

I spent all day in the office today and managed to eavesdrop on all the gossip, whilst chewing my office managers Ugg boots- they are not as tasty as the full bowl of porridge I found under someones desk!

Today my owner Henrietta and Katy the office manager ( who always wears Uggs) braved the tube to look at some kitchens for our canine cookery classes - yes that’s right I will be teaching Dachsunds how to deep fry ( not something we agree with, but you can’t argue with Dachsies!), Beagles how to bake, Staffies how to steam and Grey-hounds how to grill! Our 1st cookery class will be on the 19th of Feb in London.

Henrietta needed cheering up today as her beloved laptop took a turn for the worse and has been sent for reconstructive surgery to some fruit farm- I think it was called Apple kingdom. Apparently she has something called an ear-phone or eye phone that she can check stuff on so not all is lost!

I smelt something yummy in the office so trotted around the corner to investigate and lo and behold there was an impostor (what I call new staff members) called Raphael caught red handed tucking in to MY beef, potato and vegetable dinner! He tried to convince me it was part of the Lily’s Kitchen initiation programme but I think he was just too lazy to go get his own lunch. He’s not the only one that chomps on my food- Katy, Katharine and Matthew are always eating my Cheese and Apple Treats!

Word on the street is that a paper called The Daily Mail is publishing an article about our cat food. Katharine ( our cat enthusiast) has been so cheery and hyper in the office( also due to devouring a whole box of choccies), I was tempted to slip some Bedtime Biscuits in her tea to quiet her down! Anyway she should learn not to taunt me or any other mutts by eating chocolate in front of us grrrr.
